Why is my Apple Watch is not connecting to my iPhone

The thing is, Apple Watches need a fairly new iOS version to function with your iPhone. If the information is correct, you have an iPhone SE with iOS 14. Apple Watch series 8 works on iPhone 8 or newer with iOS 16. Although I don't know what version SE you have and what series of Apple Watch.
