Hello,

The minimum age is listed as "Be 18 years or older, depending on where you live." It's odd to me that an application would be declined because of your age and wonder if they mentioned insufficient credit history which is common with young applicants?

The Apple Card is known as one of the more difficult credit cards to get approved for (Goldman Sachs is who determines approval not Apple). You may have better luck with a different credit card company. It also might be worth looking into a secured credit card product. Since it doesn't sound like you are in a situation to open a joint credit card with a parent or someone who has more credit history. Secured credit cards work by holding a deposit you make as collateral then opening a credit card with the deposit amount as your credit limit.

I also want to make sure you know about The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Below is a link to their Credit Card topic area which has a lot of must know information related to credit cards.

CFPB Credit Card Consumer Tools - 3rd party link to www.consumerfinance.gov

I hope this helps.

State law takes precedence over many other factors. Banks process thousands of applications a day. In almost all cases, major banks use computers running complex algorithms to determine credit worthiness. Your state may be a 20 or 21 age state for entering into a legal contract. But your emancipation can’t be reviewed by a computer.

You’ll be better served by going to a local branch of a major bank and talking to a loan officer and let them help you obtain a credit card. Once you obtain a card, in 6 months you can apply for an Apple Card and you may be good.
