why can't my iphone 11 be recognized by my computer

thought it was the communication/charging port (although it charged find). changed computer ports, charging cables numerous times, changed computers numerous times different each time, installed new charging port ( I'm a techy) and still not recornized. the iphone 11 still has the owners picture on the lock screen and I can't get passed that, although in the past that never stopped me from having a new firmware/software/renew os, etc on the phone andmaking it operational.

am I missing something????

Windows, Windows 10

What do you mean still has owner picture? You bought a 2nd hand phone?

I'm sorry.... misspoke. I did buy it second hand although broken..... not working at all. what I meant is that the previous owner (from whom I bought it) had his phone password required and his lock screen saver (happened to be his picture). I didn't realize that the phone password is necessary to access this phone because I bought it from him as a non-working phone. Once I installed a new screen, that's when I realized a phone password is required. I didn't worry too much about that as I simply would have opened itunes and would be able to restore the phone (hopefully if the guy was honest, where would have been no activation lock as he claimed).

However, the phone simply is not being recognized as a phone that needs to be restored etc. It is not even seen by itunes or any other app that I have on my pc..... that includes my pc as well as two other laptops. incidentally, all these windows based pc's have always recognized an connected phone as did itunes.

could the lock screen somehow be able to prevent communication with the the pc???? I thought it may have been the charging port, so I installed a new one..... still no recognition or communication at all.

am I missing something here??? It charges fine.

thanks in advance.... Wes

Can't access a phone that is locked to another user info, ie. passcode, as you need to validate the trust between phone and itunes.

That phone is useless, suggest you return it and get your money back.

Even if you're able to restore the phone to factory settings, you're going to run into this

And if you can't get a hold of the seller, then recycle the device.

there may not be an activation lock at all on this phone as the seller insisted. If that's the case, then i should be able to restore the phone. And yes, of course, if at that point it is discovered that there is an activation lock, then it's useless. But let's get to that point first before we ID this phone as useless.

In your own words from your previous reply, it has the owner's picture on it and probably needs owner's passcode to unlock it.

You can either save time return the phone and get your money back, or waste your time and resources to restore a phone that is clearly still associated to the previous owner.

You been give the correct steps on what to do, up to you if you heed the advice or not.

good luck.
