Transfer MP3 files to my Apple device

I have downloaded many MP3s on a Windows 10 PC. I am not able to transfer any of them to my ipad, ipod or iphone. This has been an issue for years. Itunes is unfriendly and tedious. It used to work but not anymore.

would anyone have a solution?

That is not correct. Download and use iTunes for Windows 10 - Apple Support if you do not have it currently installed. (And by the way, iTunes has always had "the iTunes Store".)

It is not wanting to help me download mp3s.

The iTunes Store does not use MP3s for music (it uses Apple's AAC). MP3s (that you obtain elsewhere) are downloaded by you, to your computer, and then added to your iTunes Library by using iTunes' top bar menu options; File/Add File to Library or File/Add Folder to Library, as appropriate. It has always been this way (and it does work. I use it often).

You then use iTunes to manage your device, including adding the MP3s to it.

Next is the problem with itunes. I am listening to meditations, not music. I have no use for a playlist. I play one at a time.
  1. Ah! So you do have iTunes installed, so no need to perform the first suggestion I made
  2. It's immaterial whether you are listening to meditations or music. As far as iTunes is concerned, it's an audio file
  3. You do not have to use a Playlist. The easiest way to play one track at a time:
    • on your device (yes, iPod, iPad and iPhone) is if each mediation is its own album (and if it isn't, you can make it so in iTunes). To play the "one album," navigate to the Albums menu and select the one that you wish to play. When it finishes, there is nothing else in the Up Next list to be played since the album had only one track
    • in your iTunes Library, either play "the album" with just one track (meditation) or start the track playing in one of the other views (such as Songs) and then clear the Up Next list. To clear the Up Next list, first tap the Up Next menu icon to the right of the Now Playing window:

    • and second, tap the Clear button at the bottom of the Up Next list:

Once your chosen meditation finishes, the player stops

If itunes is used it forces me into a playlist configuration.

That simply is not so. See above.

And of course, another option on your device is to set the timer so that it turns off after a set period has elapsed.

  • start your track playing. If you need to, play a short "intro" track so that you have time to set the timer and put the device aside. I can even suggest an empty "intro" track without any audio to disturb you, that you can download that would serve this purpose
  • go to the Clock app
  • select Timer
  • set the time period that you prefer
  • tap the "When Timer Ends" option
  • scroll to the bottom of the tones list and select Stop Playing
  • tap the Set button at the top on the window

If the empty track interests you, let me know and I can post a link. It's simply a short "audio" track (choice of several seconds) that you add to your Library. It is a silent track.

To begin, itunes is not available as an app anymore. It has changed to the itunes store. It is not wanting to help me download mp3s. It wants me to purchase music that I already own. I can’t use Apple Music as Windows doesn’t see it.

perhaps there is a way to download without using itunes.

Next is the problem with itunes. I am listening to meditations, not music. I have no use for a playlist. I play one at a time. If itunes is used it forces me into a playlist configuration. I could make a separate playlist for each meditation, however, it doesn’t help. I cannot stop it from shuffling or looping. All I need is to be able to play one meditation and have it stop. I have approximately 200 of these. I use them nightly for sleep.

I was reviewing what I wrote to you earlier and a couple of things struck me.

If you mean "on the iPod, iPad or iPhone", "iTunes" has never been on any of the devices. To play music (or meditation files) you use the Music app, as before.

I cannot stop it from shuffling or looping.

Turn off the Shuffle and the Repeat options. Note that on most (or possibly, all) devices, the Repeat option has three modes and the player moves to the next mode each time you tap the Repeat button :

    1. Off - Repeat function is off. Each track in the current list (the Now Playing list) plays once and the the player stops
    2. Repeat - when the current list finishes, the same list plays again, from the beginning
    3. Repeat 1 - when the current track ends, the same track plays again until you select another track (which will also play on repeat), or until you turn Repeat 1 off. The Repeat icon (usually two arrows with the front of one facing the back of the other one) will have a small 1 in the icon
    4. Off - repeat is off

This means that if you did have repeat on and you tapped the repeat icon only once, the same track will play in repeat mode until you tap the Repeat icon again. Shuffle has only two options, on and off.
