Macbook pro 2018 is good for university?

Hi, I’m buying my first MacBook for university, and the latest options are quite expensive for me. So I looked at some reasonable option for myself which is “MacBook Pro Retina 13.3-inch (2018) - Core i5 - 16GB SSD 256”. Would you please help me if this is a good option for studying?

Hi there,

Yes, a 2018 MacBook Pro is still worth it in 2023.

Some things to know, though:

  • 256 GB may be not enough: you’ll have a lot of files for university. You can work with a external drive though.
  • Developers are working to optimize their softwares with M1 and M2 chips. Most of softwares are still working quite well with intel chips though.

Depends on your course of study. Contact the University and ask them what computer is best for your situation.
