I can add new wallpaper but am unable to remove it.
This used to be a simple intuitive operation, it is now the pinnacle of frustration, help welcome .. I have tried the change from lock screen but that does not do anything

Thank you for responding, however my question was how do I remove the wallpapers I no longer want.
I have seen all the replies on removing from the lock screen, but this does not work on my iPhone 8 with ios 16.6
It frustrates when IT people change something that worked simply to something that doesn't.
