How do I use latitude and longitude to set a favorite in Apple Maps?

I live in a community that has a central post box system. My mailing address is the community address followed by a box number. I don't have a house address that Apple Maps can find. I dropped a pin on our home, but Apple maps insists on using the community address. Apple Maps sees the street our home is on and has the correct name for it. That street is different from the street associated with the community.

I've located the exact latitude and longitude of our home. Is there a way to designate a favorite in Apple Maps that does not insist on a mailing address?

Thanks for your help.

Here are a few ways you can use latitude and longitude to set a favorite location in Apple Maps without needing an address:

- Open Apple Maps and tap the search bar. Enter the latitude and longitude coordinates in decimal format separated by a comma (e.g. 40.730610, -73.935242). This will drop a pin at that exact location.

- Tap the dropped pin and then tap the info button. Scroll down and tap "Add to Favorites". This will save it without needing an address.

- You can also add a favorite directly from the Favorites list. Tap the Favorites icon, then tap "Edit". Tap the + icon to add a new favorite. Tap "Drop Pin" and enter the latitude and longitude. Tap "Add".

- An alternative is to create a contact with just a name and the latitude/longitude as the address. Add that to your Contacts, then add it to your Favorites in Apple Maps.

The key is entering the lat/long coordinates directly instead of trying to search for an address. This will allow you to save any location as a favorite in Apple Maps without needing a formal street address.

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried the methods on both my iPhone and my iPad, but to no avail.

Here are the details:

  • I was able to generate the dropped pin accurately on the map. On both devices I tapped the pin, but there was no info button displayed.

  • In Favorites on both devices, I tapped the + icon, but there was no "Drop Pin" option.

  • I created a contact with just the coordinates on the iPhone and shared it with the iPad. In Favorites on both devices, I tapped the + icon, but the only option listed in the search box was "Search Maps". When I entered the recently created contact's name it showed, but when I added it Apple Maps insisted on plopping it in the middle of the US😒.

I'm getting the sense that Apple Maps does not support this.
