Why is the only option when unable to complete transfer to start from the beginning again?

Why do I have to reset the new Ipad all the time because it is unable to transfer data from the old one?

There could be a few reasons why you're running into issues transferring data from your old iPad to your new one:

- Incompatibility between iOS versions - If your new iPad is running a newer version of iOS than your old one, there may be compatibility issues that prevent some data from transferring properly. Trying updating the OS on both devices to the latest version.

- Insufficient iCloud storage - The iCloud backup of your old iPad may be too large to fit in the free storage allotment on iCloud. You may need to upgrade your iCloud storage plan to complete the transfer.

- iTunes sync issues - Sometimes syncing and transferring data through iTunes can encounter problems. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes and try the transfer again.

- Corrupted backup data - If your old iPad's backup data has become corrupted for some reason, it may fail to transfer. You may need to fully reset the old iPad and start a fresh backup.

- Failed handoff - The automatic wireless transfer between devices sometimes fails. Reboot both devices and try the automatic setup again.

- Device limitations - Much older iPads may have hardware limitations that prevent full data transfers to newer models. Some manual transfers may be required.

So in summary, some troubleshooting steps would be:

- Update iOS on both devices

- Check iCloud storage limits

- Update and reinstall iTunes

- Retry automatic wireless setup

- Perform full reset and fresh backup of old device

- Manually transfer data if needed

Let me know if the transfer still fails after trying these suggestions! There may be an underlying issue with one of the devices that requires further diagnosis. But this covers the most common reasons for failed iPad to iPad transfers.

I can understand how frustrating that would be. Can you tell us what software version is running Ono the older device?

Also, are you getting any error messages when you are attempting to transfer? Or does it just stall? How long is it transferring before you decide to give up on it?

Are you transferring from iPad to iPad using quick start or via a computer or Mac?

If your device to device transferring is failing maybe try a different way. Try backing up your older device to iCloud, then go to your new device and restore from iCloud backup.

Or back up your older device to a Mac or PC, then restore your newer device on that computer or Mac.
