FCP stops rendering in the middle of program. How fix?

Working in FCP 10.6.6

An 18-minute program rendered the first 11 minutes but then stopped.

I've tapped Render All and Render Selection, but the Rendering window seems stuck on 0%. As I tried various things, at one point it said 1%. But after fiddling more, it went back to 0%. Could something just be causing it to render super slow?

With thanks for your advice!

Thanks so much, Terry. My Mac Studio has 2.6 TB of storage available and my 70TB Raid (it holds my FCP files) has about 32 TB available.

Pondering this, I copied the whole program to a new Project and it began rendering. But it stopped at the same point as it did on the original program—a photo that had been processed by Topaz Photo AI. So I eliminated the photo and added it back again... and FCP then rendered the entire program! So the problem was with something I did in processing the photo, not with FCP itself. Thank you Terry for your quick and good advice.

And Tom, thank you tool Good advice as always. I'm so glad you're still there, helping us all as you have been doing for so long. With my best wishes.

How much free space do you have on your system drive? At least 15% of the drive size is required. If you're exporting to an external drive, how much free space is on it?

If you have sufficient free disc space, you could try deleting generated library files in case it's a corrupt render that's causing the stoppage. Select the library in the browser, choose File->Delete Generated Library Files... Choose All Render files. Manage render files in Final Cut Pro for Mac - Apple Support

Also, an easy thing to try is resetting FCP preferences. Hold Option and Command while launching FCP and choose Delete Preferences. It will open the default Untitled library. Re-open the library you were working on, set the Preferences back to the way you like them (disable background rendering, reset Import to Leave Files in Place, etc.) and see if the issue has been resolved.
