How do I stop Mail app from crashing when sending Emails?

When I reply to some emails I get a Warning pop up that says "This message contains attachments that are still being loaded. Are you sure you want to send it?

When I click Send Away, the Mail app crashes. I've called Apple Care 4 times about this and they cannot resolve the issue. HELP!

Mail may be crashing due to lack of space to store those attachments. If any of the primary folders are being moved to the cloud, that may confuse Mail where to put the attachments when the message is sent. Turn off iCloud syncing and Time Machine backups when sending Mail to see if the issue persists when neither is running.

If you are using Filevault, see if the issue persists with Filevault turned off.

When the hard drive is over 85% full, this arbitrary amount has been found a point where the Finder has a problem managing files.

This issue can happen if you have removed attachments from the email you are replying to. The replying mail is looking for an attachment that is still referenced but no longer there.

I had the same issue having stripped a lot of attachments from emails to increase server space. For the most part I only removed attachments from older emails but noticed I had accidentally removed a signature attachment from an active email and the error popped up when I replied to that email. The only cure was to start a new thread and not reply.
