From Laptop Chrome Icon shows up in my MacBook Air even when Chrome is not open in any of my other Mac
I am not sure if this is something to be alarmed at or not.
I have a new MacBook Air and an old MacBook Pro.
Now I don't know if this is coincident or not.
I installed a 2007 Ubisoft Windows game running on DirectX 9 using files from a DVD I still had by installing WineSkin through homebrew. The game installed and ran successfully. I tried installing it on the old MacBook Pro first and when it ran properly then only I installed it on the Air using same process. The game setup files are from an original DVD from Ubisoft.
Right after I installed I saw a Chrome Icon with From Laptop Text and a small Monitor Icon when I did cmd + tab.
I don't use Chrome in any of my Macs. I have Chrome installed but I don't use it. I do use Brave browser on both sometimes. At the time of installation, Brave was turned on both MacBooks. But Chrome was not even open. Then I saw that in both My MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro these Chrome "From Laptop" Icons are there. (On the old MacBook Pro it doesn't say "From Laptop", but it is in a separate grey box on the left when I did cmd + tab). As soon as I closed those using cmd + Q, it auto opened immediately on both MacBooks.
I have Little Snitch Mini Free running on my MacBook Air and I saw there are about 5 Incoming requests that was using my Chrome process. All the IPs were in my local network.
I may be overthinking and it maybe just Handoff. The only thing that surprised me is that I never opened Chrome in any of my MacBooks and Chrome auto opened.
I installed MalwareBytes and ran scan, nothing was found.
Is it just Handoff? But how come Chrome started without me opening it?
I disabled Handoff but I am not sure if this was a malware or just a coincidence with Handoff.
Should I be alarmed?
