1st Generation iPod Shuffle no longer display when iTunes launches.

I have 3 iPod shuffles (1st generation) that worked in July on a Windows 10 PC. Today, none of them show up when iTunes launches. Error message: Software for this iPod is not installed correctly. I have uninstalled & reinstalled iTunes, updated device drivers, updated Windows 10 to no avail. I can hear when the iPods connect to the computer so it's not my PC. I'm guessing this problem came with the last iTunes version. If I uninstall the present version & install an older version, will this correct my problem? If so, how do I get the previous version? Thank you. PS: The folder displaying the iPod on my computer is empty (not sure if it was like this before last iTunes update)

Windows, Windows 10

Hi Featherhalo,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. It looks like iPod shuffle should still be supported in iTunes on PC. Check out Manage iPod shuffle in iTunes on PC for basic guidance. Since it sounds like your iPods are not recognized, the troubleshooting from If your computer doesn't recognize your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support may be helpful. Although not mentioned, those steps would be the same for iPod.

If you do want to try downloading a previous iTunes version, you can download directly from Apple - Support - Downloads.

Lastly, please keep in mind that hardware service is discontinued for your iPod shuffle model as it is considered obsolete. Obtaining service for your Apple product after an expired warranty - Apple Support explains further.

Take care.
