iPhone alarms are usually silent and do not vibrate.

This has been an issue I’ve had off and on for several years with iPhones, but lately it seems like it’s gotten worse. More often than not, my alarms make zero noise. I had to go buy an alarm clock months ago because I couldn’t trust my iPhone’s alarm. It’s gotten even more unreliable since then. That’s not good. I’ve noticed the alarm I have to end my sleep focus at 5:00 never makes any noise and doesn’t vibrate. Other alarms are hit and miss. This evening, for instance, an alarm I had to remind me to do something didn’t ring and didn’t vibrate. I checked and it isn’t set to “none” for the sound. Neither is my sleep alarm. I just don’t know what to do to fix this.

none of this helped. I literally got a new iPhone 15 and the day I had a flight the alarm went off with NO sound and NO vibration… yet the alarm worked the days before????? Had the same issue with old phone. It’s completely random. Is this anyway related to having a watch?? Bc I swear it’s a lot of the times my watch isn’t on and is changing that I don’t get woken up.

Hi!!

Had this problem with my new Iphone. Apparently all the alarms are set to snooze automatically so even if you created a new alarm the "snooze" option is enabled automatically. It will never ring!!!. I deleted all alarms and created a new one ensuring that I unchecked the "snooze button and it worked. Now I have to figure out how to stop the automatic snooze button. Was late for a flight because of this !!

Settings > Alarms > Edit > Click on Alarm > Uncheck the "Snooze" button

At this point, I’m seriously considering giving up on this so-called “new” iPhone 15 and either going back to my iPhone 13 or to an android. I’m not even sure if it’s the phone or the iOS upgrade. This Alarm issue is so irritating and impossible to comprehend for Phone that costs so much money!!!!!

I really should not have to play Russian roulette every time I go to sleep and I have an important event to wake up for, or be an IT specialist just to ensure that my alarm functions the way it should.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your iPhone 12 Pro Max alarms. There could be several reasons why your alarms are not sounding or vibrating. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Make sure that the volume is turned up and not on silent or vibrate mode. You can check this by using the volume buttons on the side of your iPhone or by going to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and adjusting the volume slider.
  2. Verify that you have selected a sound for your alarms. You can do this by going to the Clock app, selecting the Alarm tab, and tapping "Edit" in the top left corner of the screen. Then, tap on the alarm you want to check and make sure you have chosen a sound.
    1. Probably you have set the Alarm Sound to NONE. Watch the GIF below
  3. Check for Do Not Disturb or Bedtime Mode: If you have Do Not Disturb or Bedtime Mode enabled, your alarms might be silenced. Check the Control Center or Settings to ensure these features are disabled.
  4. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Turn off your iPhone, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
    1. Restart the device. That's it.
    2. Still not solved --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support
  5. If the issue persists, you can try resetting all settings on your iPhone. This will not erase your data but will reset all personalized settings to their default values. Go to Settings > General > Transfer & Reset > Reset > Reset All Settings and confirm the action. Note that you will need to reconfigure your settings afterward. All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, the Home screen layout, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults. No data or media are deleted.
    1. Reset All Settings: Return iPhone settings to their defaults - Apple Support:- Return iPhone settings to their defaults
    2. You can return settings to their defaults without erasing your content.
    3. If you want to save your settings, back up your iPhone before returning them to their defaults. For example, if you’re trying to solve a problem but returning settings to their defaults doesn’t help, you might want to restore your previous settings from a backup.
  6. Make sure you have the latest updates installed.
    1. Update Over-the-Air (OTA) —> Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
    2. Update using iTunes/Finder —> Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support (IN)

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to reach out to Apple Support or visit an authorized service center for further assistance. They can provide specific guidance based on your device model and iOS version.

I have the same issue I drive trucks and often wake up to drive early morning like 1 to 3 am… I’ve had this happen to me twice now I thought I was the only one… was late twice because my alarm made no sound… I often sleep with my wife on the phone I don’t know if that’s the issue but it’s never been a problem before now

I was having the same problem. I’m going to try the “turn off snooze” setting and see if it works. Also, whenever I would fall asleep with my Apple Watch on, my alarm on my phone would be going off in a low volume to where I couldn’t hear it. I did some research and when I went to the watch app my sound volume was on low. Try that if you sleep with your watch on.

iPhone alarms are usually silent and do not vibrate.
