My new MacBook M2 was set up with OUT case sensitivity - Will I have to re-install to get case sensitivity back?

Been Using Case sensitive since mid seventies on many computers and Operating systems (never really used Windows) and I have always used to designate if a file is Untouched (Upper case suffix) or has been modified (lower case) with over 300GB on my computers this saves a potation problem area'

Currently work on about 20 web sites so changing would be royal pain in the nether regions.

My original Mac Pro (2006) had no problem and the machines have had to be set up correctly for me.

Am I going to reformat my New M2 16" MacBook or is there another way. Not much on it at this time so need to do it before too long.

I am of course pedantic about back ups and with an additional 24 TB NAS on my lan storage is not short or a problem.

P.S. Pedantic is used in the English meaning Not American where it has evolved means unnecessarily fussy over small details which do not an outcome!

You can try. I doubt it will work. You will have to reformat only the data volume and then restore the data on it somehow. Maybe you can do that from Recovery. Maybe you'll need to configure and external boot drive.

Apple isn't conducive to this kind of custom workflow. I recommend a different operating system.

I shall ONLY deal with the idea of Re-Formatting an Apple Silicon Computer.

With that in mind, it is not the same procedure when working on Intel based computers.

Those days are long past.

If not done the " Apple Way " , you could be left with a very expensive paperweight

Use Disk Utility to erase a Mac with Apple silicon - Apple Support (CA)

As for Case Sensitive - from that same link above, I do not see the Option to create a Case Sensitive format

That does not mean it can not be done but does draw into question if it will allow such.
