HOW TO SET UP "TIME MACHINE" IN NEW 2021 MAC WHEN NOT INSTALLING AN EXTERNAL DEVICE?

WHEN I CLICK ON "SYSTEMS SETTINGS" THEN "GENERAL" AND "TIME MACHINE, I GET ONLY A WINDOW ASKING "ADD BACKUP DISK" (WHICH I'M NOT INSTALLING). CLICKING ON 'ADD BACKUP DISK" OPENS ANOTHER WINDOW, "NO AVAILABLE TIME MACHINE DESTINATIONS"

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

Will "Time Machine" back up automatically with out installing an external disk?

No. Since there is only one internal drive, Time Machine has nothing to back up to if you don't connect an external drive.

Of course, you could partition the internal drive and set Time Machine to back up to a different partition, but that would arguably be monumentally stupid since if the drive fails, your backup is also gone.
