.band files from iPad to Mac then edit

When a .band file is created with GarageBand iPad, can it be copied or exported to a MacBook then edited with GarageBand Mac? I do not use iCloud. I can move files via AirDrop or by USB port.

Hello ejbpesca,

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. You can share the file to a nearby device such as using AirDrop from the iPad to the Mac. Here's how:

Share songs with GarageBand for iPad
You can share a song as a GarageBand project or as an audio file. You can share GarageBand songs to a Mac, to SoundCloud or to another app on your iPad. You can also send a song in an email, share it to nearby devices using AirDrop, or use it as a ringtone. If you have set up iCloud, you can also use iCloud to share songs between devices.

You can import a GarageBand song created on another iPad or iPhone. Because GarageBand for Mac offers features and functionality not found in GarageBand for iPad, you can’t import a GarageBand for Mac song to GarageBand for iPad.

This information is outlined in this article, and it has additional details that's helpful: Share songs with GarageBand for iPad - Apple Support

Kind regards.
