My Apple Watch sensor burns

I’ve had my watch for over 2 years and have only recently started getting burn marks on my arm from wearing it. I wear my watch every day and use it for tracking exercise and movement. I’m so disappointed I can’t wear it

This happened to me too for the first time last night! I‘ve been wearing my watch for almost 3 years now and it is the first time this happened.

I am quite experienced with dermatitis etc, but this is very clearly and visibly a burn mark. Plus I woke up during the night when it happened and felt that my watch was very hot. My skin turned leathery over the reddened part. It is burning and frankly, I find it annoying that there are commenters in this feed dismissing what people are writing about their injuries. There are 55 people atm who clicked the me too button, so this seems to be a prevalent and frequent issue.

I am hoping this was a one off incident with my watch, but I won‘t be wearing it anymore during the night, in case it does happen again. It took me a while to wake up and notice it and my mark is pretty bad now. It looks like it will leave a scar.

looks like a burn to me. Watch battery is fine and doesn’t drain. Haven’t changed moisturiser or skin routine so the watch is definitely causing irritation

Noted, and more or less what I expected from the battery, and I'm sure you would have noticed something hot enough on your wrist to cause damage. Some kind of sensitivity seems more likely, and you will probably need expert advice from your doctor to help trace the exact source. This will probably be worth doing, because if you are developing a sensitivity or allergic reaction to something you need a proper diagnosis so you can reduce the risks in the future.

I have been having same problem. My skin blisters leaving an exact imprint of the underneath of the watch case as ‘burnt’ circles

I reported to Apple some weeks ago but they show no interest in actually looking at my watch but their engineer team have pronounced no defect with the watch ( despite never inspecting it) They suggest going to my gp but I am no longer wearing the watch so no burn marks atm. Has anyone’s watch actually been inspected by Apple? I have no known allergies so feel like I’m being ‘fobbed off’

How will that help? Apple doesn’t care/ wont acknowledge the problem. If a doctor were to confirm its the apple watch causing the burn through a fault. Apple will probably just say sorry and offer me a small discount off a new watch. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Contact your medical provider. What has been shown appears consistent with dermatitis and blistering, and not with a thermal burn. (But while I’ve met a whole lot of dermatitis, allergic relations, and burns over the years, I’m not a physician.)

I have had my watch since the middle of October, and I am getting serious Burns from the bottom of the watch itself not the watchband. I believe it has to do with the sensors that monitors your health activities or possibly the battery.

Contact your medical provider, and show them the effected skin, and discuss the potential causes. Potential causes of skin irritation can include dermatitis, allergies, and other issues. Contact Apple Support directly, as well.

I have done both and confirmed it was a burn. But Apple support insisted it was irritation. Where do I go from here if Apple support won't acknowledge it?

thanks for the tip!

If it‘s really this, though, it means that I‘ll need to get another smart watch because I mainly use the Apple Watch to monitor my heart rate and track sleep. From all the other posts I read, I have to say, I find it frustrating that it won‘t be aknowledged by apple because that probably means they‘re not working on fixing the issue. I really don‘t want to stop using my watch, but if the main reason I use it creates a risk of skin burn, then I‘ll have to get a different watch :/ kind of sad…

You are constantly telling people not to wear the watch and to go and see a doctor. Neither of these are constructive or helpful responses (people will already know if they need to see a doctor or not), and you continue to post exactly the same comment over and over. If you have nothing constructive to add, please refrain from commenting, as it really does not help the other people in the community who have general concerns about the Apple Watch that they have paid a lot of money for.

I will continue to post when and how I see fit until such time as the Host, the only people who have the authority to tell me to stop posting, tell me to stop. If you want to keep trying to police my posting, go right ahead. I will take my own advice and ignore you. Should you post anything constructive or relevant to the issue at hand, I will be happy to read what you have say.

Best of luck.
