I need to set up a phone for a family member so that they can only receive calls and texts from Contacts and also only be able to call or send text to contacts. I remember there used to be a way to do this, but now I can't find it.

You can set communication limits with Screen Time on the device itself, or you can manage the setting from another device if you're the parent or guardian in a Family Sharing group. You will find the Communications Limit setting in Screen Time > Communication Limits.
In the Allowed Communication section, you have the option of selecting Allowed Communication with Contacts Only, Contacts & Groups with at Least One Contact, or Everyone during Screen Time hours. During Downtime, the options are Specific Contacts or Everyone.

Is there a way to set up the iphone so that only communications possible would be with the contacts list (both incoming and outgoing)?
