Mac Studio can't record streaming audio for more than 30 minutes

I have the strangest issue and can't find any solution. I have a new Mac Studio running Ventura, and have repeatedly tried to record streaming audio, but every time, without fail, after 30 minutes the recorded audio (music, speaking) will degrade and become very static and crackly. (The source audio remains fine).

I've tried recording audio from multiple websites on multiple browsers, with no change. I've tried recording with GarageBand, Quicktime, Audacity (among others), and they work great for the first 30 minutes, but then the recorded audio always becomes degraded. I'm using Greatdy Audio Plug to record the system sounds.

So, it isn't the browser, and it isn't the recording software. It also isn't the streaming audio.

Anyone have any idea what is going on? Is it the hardware of the Mac?

What makes you so sure? That software hasn't been updated in almost a decade. Plus, it is a paid shareware app. Are you using the free trial? Maybe that is a built-in limitation. I wouldn't recommend paying for it however, as it hasn't been updated in almost a decade.

what location are you using as your "save to" location? I have, in the past, encountered issues with longer recordings stopping / not saving unexpectedly whenever I have selected anything other than "desktop" as my "save to" location. this has been especially true when "save to" is set to an external drive. so I now use "desktop" as my "save to" every time and afterwards I move them to my desired location manually. I haven't had an issue since.

Thanks, I'll try that. But normally, I just open an app like GarageBand, hit record, and only save it after I'm done recording. I even tried playing back the recorded audio before saving it, and every time around the 25-35 minute mark, it starts rapidly degrading. So this is before I even saved it.
