Can't make outgoing phone calls from my Mac using Monterey 12.6.7

I'm hoping someone can help me with this, when my phone rings a small window pops up on my Mac asking me if I want to accept it, and I can accept the phone call and talk to through computer. But when I try to make an outgoing phone call from my computer it says my iPhone and Mac must be on the same Wi-Fi network which they are, but it will not connect. I'm trying to figure out why can receive incoming phone calls do not make outgoing ones. Thank you and advance.

K Shaffer,

Thanks for responding actually I have a Asus router and it does have two channels but both my iPhone and my iMac are on the 5G channel. I need to get this figured out because I use my computer a lot for business and I work so much better than talking on my phone. I checked the continuity settings and both devices are always kept updated. I can update to Ventura because I have a late 2015 iMac and it won't support it, ironically I live in the city of Ventura.....

The word 'continuity' applies in this sense, a few may apply:

Use Continuity to connect your Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch - Apple Support

//support.apple.com/en-us/HT204681

..Some 'background sharing' between them might need reapplied.

This point in time, most mine have been OK. Details escape me.!

Use Handoff to continue tasks on your other devices - Apple Support

//support.apple.com/en-us/HT209455 [+might not be the case]

Sometimes to restart each or both devices, may help readjust

whatever squabbles happen between them. A sequence may

be required; been awhile since I'd done any exact thing here.

A reference article may - or not, be one like this:

Make and receive phone calls on Mac or iPad - Apple Support

//support.apple.com/en-us/HT209456

..section tells how to set up iPhone cellular calls, including wi-fi.

Or this one, includes iPhone and FaceTime, with Mac:

Set up your iPhone and FaceTime on Mac for phone calls - Apple Support

//support.apple.com/guide/facetime/set-up-fctm264ce831/5.0/mac/12.0

Might find 'an answer' in totally different direction, too!? LOL

K,

Thank you I restarted them a couple of times double checked everything was working together correctly checked all my preferences the Wi-Fi accounts on both devices. What's funny when I open FaceTime and if you try to send a call it starts to rain but then instantly it says both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi like before. What's astonishing a few minutes later someone calls me and using the FaceTime I'm able to answer the call on my computer even though my phones off in the other room....

I read that and several other articles and all my settings seem to be correct probably just some weird thing but I can't track it down.

Maybe if you've not tried recent latest macOS update:

macOS Monterey 12.6.8 macOS Monterey 24 Jul 2023

Blue link tells of a list of potential fixes to 12.6.8.

.This is 'kinda a patch' to include several other things

& it might do tiny bit toward the issue your mac has?

An upgrade would push a latest version Ventura out

~ while the update to Monterey awaits 12.6.8]

Update macOS on Mac - Apple Support

The software update item within macOS should work.

[There's also been Safari update, for some macOS.]
