My camera stopped working on its on, it’s on the most recent update and I have not had any repairs done to the phone.

Can you provide me with a solution if the camera shows a black screen on photo and video. I’m on the most current update and have not had any problems before now. Nothing has been replaced on the phone and I have no damage to it. I have a message in settings starting that I have an unknown part and it can’t determine if I have a genuine apple part.

The message that you see can occur for different reasons.

1) The phone software has determined that there is an issue with the camera

2) False alarm....unlikely, but possible

Either way, you need to make an appointment at the Apple Store or take the phone to an authorized Apple Service shop to let them hook up the diagnostic equipment and find the real reason for the issue.

If you are using an older iPhone such as the iPhone 12, 11, XR, and upgraded your software to say iOS 17, this can cause issues since older devices are not designed for newer software releases. Since there is no damage to the device, this is most likely a software bug. (Keep in mind, internal damage may be caused by drops, but only in rare cases will this cause this issue.)

Your best next-step would be to downgrade your iOS version. This can be done by downloading a previous and compatible iOS release to your computer and loading it to the device using iTunes.
