iMac Mail issue with Charter.net

I can receive email but cannot send email using my Charter.net account. My email server settings are correct however Charter (Spectrum) claims it is an Apple Mail problem??

Hello GlenCal57,

I had the same issue a few weeks ago with my Charter account.

Open Mail and click Mail > Settings in the menu bar. Click the Accounts tab and select your Charter account. Select the "Server Settings" tab and set your SMTP settings as such:

If you can then receive e-mails, go back in those settings and check "Automatically manage connection settings".

Apple mail allows local control of web based email services. All mail requires is the proper credentials, obtained from the web service, and it just works. Your is not the first instance of Charter problems on this community.

Charter can make any claim that want, but if they've supplied you the proper data and it doesn't work, there're too many instances of mail working properly to put in any credence in what Spectrum claims.

I suggest you go with a different web service: Yahoo, gMail, Proton mail or one of many more. or use iCloud mail for that matter.

Have you tried to delete those business accounts and create them anew?

Make sure sure to save your received emails before doing so. Move them to your "On my Mac" folder for safe keeping. On a POP account, once the e-mail is downloaded , it is no longer available from the e-mail server, i.e. it only exists on your Mac.
