3rd Gen AirPods Won’t Pair

I’ve had my AirPods for about a year and a half. They were working just fine. Then out of nowhere they were not even listed on my Find My app, in my devices. NOWHERE. The case is charging but nothing is connecting at all.

Hi ATurnidge82,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities! Since your AirPods won't connect, follow the steps below to reconnect them:

  1. "Make sure that your iPhone or iPod touch has the latest version of iOS or that your iPad has the latest version of iPadOS.
  2. Put both AirPods in the charging case and make sure that both AirPods are charging.
  3. To make sure that Bluetooth is on, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
  4. If your AirPods are connected, make sure that they're selected as your audio device. If your AirPods appear in the list of devices but they don't connect, go to the next step.
  5. Close the lid, wait 15 seconds, then open the lid. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the charging case for up to 10 seconds. The status light on the front of the charging case should flash white, which means that your AirPods are ready to connect.

6. Hold the charging case, with your AirPods inside and the lid open, next to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

7. Follow the steps on the screen of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

8. Test your AirPods. If you still can't connect, reset your AirPods."

Find these steps in the article If your AirPods won't connect.

Hope that helps!

Same issue here. I opened the AirPods and removed the right one and placed back in, green/orange light was showing. I removed the left one and placed back in, white flashing light only.

Assuming the left one was completely dead I removed the right one from the case and charged only the left, after 20/30 mins it was 100% charge. Placed the right one back in and closed the case.

Opened the case beside my iPhone and was able to connect from Home Screen without accessing Bluetooth.

once it connected either L/R , then try to update the firmware brother ,

issue with the firmware , not with your airpods , call the apple team and ask them the help to update the firmware , after firmware update , both will start working properly

faced same issue 6-7 times travelled 250KM + for this issue, and after updating the firmware,at service center both start working , if there is no hardware issue in the L/R pods

so call apple , to update firmware , and pods will start working

Finally got the resolution of this issue ,

either put left earbud out of case or right bud out of case

let’s suppose you put left bud out of case and right one is in the case (you should have to try by putting one by one in the case but only one earpods in case at a time )

the. Press and hold until once amber light once blink then it’s reset with right bud then check , either while putting left or right bud in the case you will get connect with iphone/mac

then try to update the firmware properly by calling the apple support team do not be oversmart after getting one airpod connect call apple bro

i assure you that it will work and if you fix by this method kindly reply back here , i have another method if this not work but 99% of the time it will work

one more thing in the community no specialist will provide this solution all are dumb and provide non-sense and cheap tips to sort this , i travell 200+ kms multiple time to fix the same issue bro 😂😂

Bro, I have faced the similar issue, none of the two were getting connected initially and the air pods were not getting detected on my iPhone, after following your steps at least it showed some sign of being alive, however the issue still persist!

At time it shows connected, but the other second it gets disconnected.

Back when it connected, both of R & L pods showed that they were charged, also the sound was coming only from one pod though the second one is getting charged and detected but no sound is coming from it.

Please help!
