Carplay is not working after iOS 16.6 software update.

Has anyone had this problem after having the iOS 16.6 software update? If so, were you able to make a fix? If so, do you have any recommendations other than resetting your iPhone?

iPhone 14, iOS 16

Hi michael058,

Thanks for posting here in Apple Support Communities. You've mentioned that CarPlay isn't working. Ar you unable to connect to your vehicle or is there a different issue? We can see that you've reached us from a great article about what to do when there's an issue with CarPlay? Following all those steps may help to address the issue you're facing, especially going into the CarPlay settings to choose the option to "Forget Your Car": If you need help with CarPlay - Apple Support

If that does not work, you may need to connect with your car manufacturer to see if there are any firmware updates that are compatible with the new iOS version.

Kind regards.

Hi! I am having the same issue on my Audi A4. I have tried everything. I am here to see what responses you get!! I also just posted a thread.

I tried connecting my 2017 Audi A4 to my AppleCarPlay as I normal have a million times before. This time my A4 would not even show CarPlay as an option anymore and I strongly believe it was right after I installed the 16.6 update. At first I thought the USB port broke in my car, so I took it to the Audi dealership for them to tell me it was not broken. I have called Apple and they can't seem to figure it out. I kept mentioning it only started the last week of July when I updated my phone. I have also called Audi and they confirm it is nothing with my car. I have tried everything 500 times and no luck.

I have tried:

  • Confirmed with dealership USB port was working correctly
  • Confirmed with dealership all of the software was updated on my car
  • Purchased several Apple Certified lightening cable from the Apple Store
  • Reset the network on my phone
  • Completely deleted my phone back to factory settings and restored from a backup
  • Deleted CarPlay from my Car/Phone and started over from scratch
  • Checked the Screen Time/Content Privacy Restrictions
  • Confirmed car's infotainment system menu was enabled
  • Sent in a video / photo to Apple Help Desk showing it is not registering my phone, but will allow ApplePlay from any other phone that is not on 16.6

PLEASE HELP! I use Google Maps daily and it is really annoying to not be able to use. I have reached out to Apple and haven't gotten any solutions. I have searched the internet and found others having the same issue but when I talk to Apple Support they tell me they didn't even know this issue was going on :/ I don't know how because it's all over the Apple Community Threads!!!

I had this problem immediately after the io6.6 update on my Iphone 14 Pro Max. Tried all the fixes, including multiple calls with the support group at Apple. I found the phone update had apparently turned off my wireless 'auto join' for the trucks wireless.

The phone would pair with Bluetooth, but not the Carplay...... until I connected manually to the trucks wireless network. That was unrecognizable by it's name, but connected. 2023 F150 Powerboost. What led me to this was the ability to use a USB cable, once connected via cableCar Play worked. I turned on auto join to the wireless network for my truck and its working fine now.

I went to my car (Subaru Ascent 2020) dealer today and they upgraded their software and it did not fix the problem. I followed all the other processes posted on numerous sites including the Apple support site and I even completely deleted the phone from my car, deleted the car from my phone and trying to re-establish with no success. I can pair the phone to the bluetooth, but when connecting to CarPlay via USB (my car doesn't have the option for wireless connect) the CarPlay portion does not work, the bluetooth does work. It keeps saying the same problem indicating it is unable to connect to the phone and to disconnect for a few minutes and reconnect which does not change anything. My wife's phone is also have the exact same problem after she upgraded to iOS16.6. I can play music via the bluetooth but none of the other apps like apple maps works. The support people are completely unaware of what the issue is and were unable to provide a solution other than to contact Subaru and inform them of my issue. Bottom line: I can no longer use CarPlay.

Carplay is not working after iOS 16.6 software update.
