iphone 14 delete multiple conversation in a message but not all

iphone 14: after checking messages on phone (conversations Scott,Mary, Paul etc). Under Mary i have 100 conversations but want to keep some and delete others but I do not want to delete one at a time (remove 75). How can I delete multiple conversations at the same time without deleting all of them or having to delete by having to hit the dial 75 times?

iPhone 14 Plus, iOS 16

Hey nashpitt,

To delete a conversion, open the Messages app > tap More and select conversations you want to delete > tap Delete. To delete messages within a conversation, touch and hold a message bubble > tap More and select the messages > tap Delete. For future reference, the steps are in this article: Delete messages on iPhone.

Hey Sheree, I understand your answer however, I want to delete many conversations at the same time. Instead of having to press the dial for each conversation, I want to remove 20 or 30 at a time. i.e. i’ve been texting to Joe for one year and have all those conversations under his name. Let’s say there’s 500 of them I want to delete 450 of those conversations and keep the remainder but don’t want to press the dial 450 times. Can that be done?

Hello nashpitt,

The only way to delete multiple messages on a device are using the steps previously provided. However, if you're only looking to remove older messages you can change the message duration setting when navigating to Settings > Messages > Keep Messages. While there isn't an article for the iOS going over the behavior when adjusting this setting, you can find the information from the Mac guide here if needed: Change General settings in Messages on Mac

However, feel free to leave feature feedback regarding deleting multiple messages. Hope the information helps.

Cheers.
