I am going to sell my phone and deleted all data and info on it. Is it ok to sell with the original sim card or do I need to take that out also?

The new owner will need to chose their own carrier, so yes, take it out and dispose of it, assuming you have canceled service already.

There is no data stored on the SIM. The SIM is there to connect to your cellular carrier. Take it out.
