If you're not being prompted for Face ID or a password when using Apple Pay on your new iPhone 14, there might be a few things to check and troubleshoot:

1. **Face ID Settings:**

Make sure that Face ID is set up and enabled on your new iPhone 14. Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode and ensure that "iPhone Unlock" and "Apple Pay & iTunes & App Store" are turned on.

2. **Passcode Settings:**

Confirm that you have a passcode set up on your iPhone. Apple Pay transactions sometimes require the passcode as an additional security measure.

3. **Payment Method Settings:**

In your Apple Pay settings, go to Wallet & Apple Pay and make sure that your selected credit card is set up correctly with the correct billing and contact information.

4. **Check Apple Pay Restrictions:**

Under Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Apple Pay, ensure that Apple Pay is not restricted. Restrictions could prevent certain actions like confirming payments.

5. **Check for Software Updates:**

Ensure that your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. Sometimes, software updates can address bugs and issues related to payment methods and security.

6. **Reboot Your iPhone:**

A simple restart can sometimes resolve minor software glitches. Try restarting your iPhone to see if that prompts the Face ID or passcode request during an Apple Pay transaction.

7. **Re-add Payment Cards:**

If the issue persists, you might want to try removing and then re-adding your payment cards to Apple Pay. To do this, go to Wallet & Apple Pay, select the card, and remove it. Then, add it back and set it up again.

8. **Contact Apple Support:**

If none of the above steps resolve the issue, consider reaching out to Apple Support for assistance. They can provide more personalized troubleshooting and guidance.

Remember that security features like Face ID and passcodes are important for protecting your payment information. While it might be frustrating to encounter issues, these measures are in place to ensure the security of your transactions. If you're unable to resolve the issue yourself, contacting Apple Support is the best course of action.
