How to return to the iPad view on WSJ app?
For some reason, my WSJ app changed to an iPhone view on the iPad. I can’t figure out how to return to the iPad view?

I agree 100%. The new version of the iPad app is terrible. And it is the even reliable. I cant be sure I am reading exactly the days paper. Looking at it today, “Floodwaters Shut Down Hong Kong” is the lead story on the front page of the print edition (Sep 9-10, 2023) but the headline doesn’t show up anywhere on the App version of todays paper or on the web version.
I know I can get a PDF of the actually print paper, but that is really hard to navigate. Not user friendly at all
Just cancelled my subscription after almost 50 years of service. Stupid move by WSJ.
This is exactly my experience today. The app has been ruined. It’s just a sequential list of articles. That approach might be 20 years past its time.
I found this thread, I thought my app was broken, and could not for the life of me figure out what happened to my paper? The new WSJ app, is useless, everyday first thing I do is read the WSJ, I start with the editorials, today it took me 20 minutes to find the silly things.
they need to bring it back!
please
I canceled as well
35 years for me. Canceled as well
I’m out. Canceling today after 20 years. Ruined my morning ritual.
Hi, I was wondering what was wrong so glad I found this thread. I have a 9th gen iPad and I'm running the latest iOS 16.6.1. It still won't go back to the old format. Can anyone confirm that we have lost the ability to download issues? does this mean that we have to be online to read? Thanks and what a stupid, irritating change. I won't renew.
They changed app and there is no other information for us to decipher a problem or whether there will be a change. I downloaded the WSJ Print edition and use that, or go the web browser to WSJ. Very disappointing but ever hopeful they will hear this forum and others as well and fix/improve the ipad (&iphone) app!
I called customer service to ask about what happened. It was, in fact, a deliberate change to the platform and user interface. The agent and his peers were fielding many complaints about the change so he was well aware. It’s very disappointing and I hope that they make the classic iPad version available. But I am not confident.
R-D-P just posted the following:
I concur with all the criticisms of the updated app. Let's let them know by contacting
Customer Service
I sent and e-mail to Mr. San Filippo pointing him to this thread and also suggesting that he get on the Apple App Store and read the iPad reviews sorted for most recent. They will both give him the same picture.
Unlike the Budweiser company.... If they fix it, I'll resubscribe...... They don't even need to pay a marketing professional to write and insincere apology.
I've done the same
Customer service responded to me to say “there is nothing they can do to fix this. CUSTOMER SERVICE IN ACTION !
I am astonished that they made this change. I m pretty sure every iPad user had been very satisfied with their user interface. You could read Today’s paper in a straightforward fashion. Now I have no idea which articles are from today’s edition or from three days ago. This is is a self inflicted wound. The PDF version is even more cumbersome. I guess I have to go back to the paper edition. What a disappointment.
If you still have a subscription, write a letter to the editor. I cancelled mine and their customer service and executive staff is unresponsive.
This is the WSJ’s Bud Light moment. Unforced error-self inflicted wound.
