Sharing iCloud photos

iOS 17 iCloud Family sharing not working This seems impossible to set up here w/ iOS 17.1.1 on iPhone 14 Pro & iPhone 13 (wife's phone). And yes I am aware of the instructions, have career ICT knowledge etc. I'm suspecting that the instructions leave out an important requirement: That the family /receiving phone needs to also have iCloud photos turned on [?] Otherwise there is nothing to indicate on my wife's phone that see can see my Family iCloud photos library. At setup I am loath to therefore interfere with her phone and where to enable a shared iCloud+ or her, this deletes her local photos library & then uploads & syncs to cloud ... The literature would have it that this is not necessary and that she should be able to see my Family libary without any such alterrations to her phone; & that her local library should remain local, but she can see my iCloud + photos. However this does not seem to be the case. Can anyone advise?

My childs apple ID can access my photos We have different apple ID but my son can see my photos on his device. In the beginning he had an ipad with my apple ID but since many years we changed the apple ID to his own. He has his own apple ID and can see the my pictures. I have have tried to figure it out but can't see what to do. Per

My photo album and my son’s are mixed up So I have an iPhone and iPad that I am sign in on using my Apple ID. My son has an I phone that he is signed in on using his own Apple ID. He sometimes uses my iPad and signs into it using his own Apple ID. on our IPhones we somehow share photo libraries. I see the photos he takes and he sees mine. We also use screen time and family sharing. how fo we separate our photo libraries so we can’t see each others photos?

you cannot access someone else’s photos without the other person is willingly sharing them with you
