If you purchased these AirPods directly from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller, then I wouldn't be concerned about any serial number discrepancies. However, if you got them from another 3rd-party source, it is very possible that they are fakes.

It's not uncommon for there to be differences between the model and serial numbers displayed in the settings of a device and those physically etched on the device itself. These differences can arise due to various reasons, including manufacturing processes, software updates, and regional variations.

Here are a few possible explanations for the differences you're seeing on your AirPods Pro:

1. **Manufacturing and Revision Differences:** The model and serial numbers on the physical device are typically related to the specific manufacturing batch and hardware revision. Manufacturers often make slight adjustments to the design or components during the production lifecycle, leading to variations in model numbers. It's possible that the model number you see in settings reflects a broader model range, while the etched model number on the AirPods corresponds to a specific revision.

2. **Firmware Updates:** Sometimes, firmware updates can modify the way devices report their model and serial numbers to the software. This could explain why the numbers displayed in settings don't match the etched numbers.

3. **Localization or Regional Variations:** Different regions may have slightly different model numbers to account for variations in regulatory requirements, languages, or other factors. The numbers you see in settings might be more generic to cover multiple regions, while the etched numbers could be specific to your region.

4. **Manufacturing Errors:** Occasionally, there can be errors during the manufacturing or printing process, leading to discrepancies between the etched and displayed numbers.

If your AirPods are functioning normally and you purchased them from a legitimate source, these differences in model and serial numbers are likely not a cause for concern. However, if you have any doubts about the authenticity or functionality of your AirPods, it's always a good idea to reach out to Apple Support or visit an authorized Apple service center for assistance. They can help verify the authenticity of your device and address any concerns you may have.
