How can I copy and paste formatting from Notes into Google Docs?

I have what should be a very simple issue to resolve, and yet I can't seem to figure it out.

A while ago (say, 6-ish months ago and forever before that), I was able to copy/paste from Apple Notes to Google Docs without losing any formatting, such as paragraph spacing, bold text, etc.

I'm not sure exactly when this issue started, so I can't pin down the exact cause, but for the past several months I now lose all formatting when I copy/paste text from Notes to Google Docs. This is so annoying that it's making me want to stop using Notes, as I take very long notes with critical spacing that must be retained in order for the note to be useful when I'm working on it in Docs.

Can anyone help suggest a resolution? In another forum, I found the suggestion to create a custom keyboard shortcut for "Paste and Match Style." I did that for Command+V in Chrome, and it seemed to retain the spacing .... but now I can't copy/paste an image from Preview into Docs using Command+V.

All of this is seriously driving me crazy, especially because it worked just fine for years. Has anyone else experienced and resolved this issue?

Thanks in advance!
