Suddenly Can’t Print From iPhone

I’ve tried printing several things from my iPhone to my Canon printer. I have always been able and to do it before. All of a sudden it’s saying “No Air Print Printers Found”. I’ve read several things, including, make sure that you are on the same Wi-Fi as your printer, and try restarting your modem and/or printer. Well, I have someone in the same house, with the exact same phone (iPhone 13), is on the exact same Wi-Fi network, and can print to the printer just fine. It has to do some thing with my phone or the settings. Oh, and I can print from my iPad the exact same document without issue. What’s wrong with my phone. Suggestions?

Hi,

It would probably be correct to assume that you have one of the AirPrint-enabled Canon printer models (About AirPrint - Apple Support).

You mentioned restarting your modem and/or printer. Have you tried the following full procedure in the order described, including the waiting times?

Power off the Wi-Fi router, the printer, any iPhones, iPads, Macs, and all other computers and devices. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on all iPhones, IPads and Macs. Finally, power on all other computers and devices.

As I mentioned, it has nothing to do with the printer, the router, or the modem. it has EVERYTHING to do with my phone. All devices (my phone, my iPad, her phone and the printer) were all on the exact same network. Here’s why I suspect it is my phone. I was able to print from my mini iPad just fine. My GF has the same phone as me and also was able to print just fine. As such, it has to have something to do with my phone.

For AirPrint, using Bonjour/mDNS, it is important that every device is correctly recognised and handled by the router. It is quite possible that only one device is not working while the others are OK. Thus the suggestion to go through the complete power-cycle sequence. It may or may not work. Therefore, again, my question, have you tried this? If not, and if you already know the answer to your own question, there is not much I can add.

Well…. If it’s working for your girlfriend’s phone and the iPad, let’s take a look at your phone- what’s the difference here? What OS is it running? Is it the same, earlier, or later? Any new apps that you’ve installed? What is your model phone and your GF? And it’s October…. Had a weird iPhone yesterday that came in that I swear was possessed… wouldn’t hook up to WIFI, wouldn’t update to current OS, and wouldn’t relinquish the SIM to a new iPhone 15 for an eSIM by being close to each other. Sometimes tech breaks. Keep us posted. Can the phone print anywhere else?

Hi alang1962,

Has the iPhone been upgraded to iOS 17.x.x?

Have you tried the full power-cycle sequence in my first message above?

Are you using a VPN app? If so, since VPN may affect printing, any change without VPN?

You do not say which exact printer model you have. Please make sure that the printer firmware has been updated to the latest possible version.
