I go into Settings>Editing in FCP and set the still image duration to 4.00 sec. See photo attached. Yet when I add a still image to my project timeline it is 10:00 sec. See photo. I must then take an extra step by pressing Control+D to adjust the still image to 4 sec. What am I doing incorrectly such that the still images are not being added to the timeline at 4 sec.?

What OS and FCP version are you using? Can you post screenshots? I can't reproduce the problem in the current versions.
Four seconds is the selection duration. When you click on the filmstrip of the still in the browser it selects four seconds. Once you’ve clicked it for the selection you can then drag it to the timeline or use the appropriate keyboard shortcut to add it to the timeline.
I went to settings and shortened the duration to 3 seconds. It still does 4 seconds when I click on the clip in the browser. What am I doing wrong?
