Random trusted location activates on AirTag

From time to time, find my app adds a trusted location to my airtags and disables notifications for that location. It’s a location I’ve never been to and don’t have in my contacts. Does anyone have a similar problem?

Find my / Airtag "This item was seen near" - what does it mean? I am using "Notify When Found" button in "Find My" app to locate an Airtag. Very quickly I am getting notification "This item was seen near <address>". But when opening the item properties it says something like "Last seen 3 days ago". Actually I know where the airtag is currently and it is not where device "last seen". It is in different location, somehere in a location without any bluetooth or any other devices nearby. My question is why I am getting "This item was seen near" notification, but Airtag actually wasn't in contact with any bluetooth device for days? Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide.

AirTag locations not reported by iOS17 We have noticed that reports of AirTag locations getting less and less over the last months (since iOS17 has been released). After reading here and checking multiple times, we have come to the conclusion that iOS17 has a serious problem working as "finder" devices (= not reporting AirTag locations anymore at all!). As simple testing procedure we have registered a new AirTag to a phone with iOS16 switched off bluetooth took another phone with iOS17 installed, bluetooth activated went for a 2 hour walk in the woods the older phone showed no location change of the AirTag coming back into urban area (gas station), the location suddenly updated again (someone with an older phone or iPad must have been around there) received a notification on iOS17 phone about a device that was moving around with us yes, we had internet connection all the time on both phones Conclusion: stalking protection worked, iOS17 was detecting the suspicious AirTag iOS17 did not send any location reports to Apple's server resulting in no updates in Find My app As I cannot believe this as intended by Apple, please consider this as a BUG report. Further testing needs to be done urgently.

Hmm, I have had my two AirTags for about 6 months now, and have never had this happen to me. However, that doesn't mean it couldn't happen. As such, I suggest that you contact Apple Support directly to see if this is something that they are aware of. You can do so simply by selecting the "Support" link on the lower left-hand side of this forum's web page.
