The steps to delete messages in a private group thread can vary depending on the platform you're using. Here are some general guidelines for a few common messaging platforms:

  1. Facebook Messenger: Messenger is not an Apple product. Contact the app developer here --> App Support or Messenger Help Center | Facebook
    1. Open the private group thread.
    2. Locate the message you want to delete.
    3. Tap and hold the message until a menu appears.
    4. Select "Remove" or "Delete" from the menu.
    5. You might be given the option to delete the message just for yourself or for everyone in the group. Choose accordingly.
  2. WhatsApp: WhatsApp is not an Apple product. Contact the app developer here --> App Support or WhatsApp FAQ  Or Restoring your chat history - WhatsApp FAQ or Contact WhatsApp
    1. Open the private group thread.
    2. Find the message you want to delete.
    3. Long-press the message until it's selected.
    4. Tap the trash bin icon on the top of the screen.
    5. You can choose to delete the message for yourself or for everyone.
  3. Telegram: Telegram is not an Apple product. Contact the app developer here --> App Support or Telegram support
    1. Open the private group thread.
    2. Locate the message you want to delete.
    3. Tap and hold the message.
    4. Choose the trash bin icon or the "Delete" option that appears.
    5. Select whether you want to delete the message just for yourself or for everyone.
  4. Slack: Slack is not an Apple product. Contact the app developer here --> App Support or Slack Help Centre
    1. Open the private group thread.
    2. Find the message you want to delete.
    3. Hover over the message to reveal the "More actions" (ellipsis) icon.
    4. Click the "More actions" icon and select "Delete message."
    5. Confirm the deletion.

Remember that the ability to delete messages for everyone might depend on the time that has passed since the message was sent. Some platforms might only allow you to delete messages within a certain timeframe (e.g., within an hour of sending). If you don't have the option to delete for everyone, you can still delete the message for yourself.

Always make sure to double-check the actions you're performing, as some deletions might be irreversible. If you're unsure, you might want to consult the platform's official help documentation or support for specific instructions based on your situation.
