Apple tv to wifi

I can’t get Apple tv to recognize my wifi when I go to settings, network, it doesn’t have a wifi tag, it just says ethernet. There isn’t an ethernet jack on the appletv. There’s a notice that I should set my apple ID but when I try, it fails to updated

Apple TV HD, tvOS 16

The Network Setting is intended to show a Wi-Fi option if the ethernet port is empty (and undamaged), and when the software is working correctly. All models have support for Wi-Fi access.

There isn’t an ethernet jack on the appletv.

Have you tried if network access through ethernet works for you? Only the Apple TV 4K (3rd generation) Wi-Fi only “A2737” has no ethernet port. All other models have an ethernet port on the back. Apple TV HD (4th generation) “A1625” would have an ethernet port as shown:

If this Apple TV box was previously used with a different Apple ID account, then please reset the device to its factory settings, and set it up again “as new”. Reset or restore your Apple TV to its factory settings - Apple Support

If this Apple TV box can have its system software updated, then please do so for best support and features (when you have internet access through the home network). tvOS 16.6 is the current version.

Hi there redmarx,

If you can't connect your Apple TV to your Wi-Fi network, work through the steps below to see if they resolve the issue for you:

1. Check that everything is on, connected, and in range
Make sure that that your internet router is connected to your modem and that both are powered on. If your router and modem are combined, make sure that the device is powered on.
If possible, keep your Apple TV and Wi-Fi router in the same room, but don't place your Apple TV directly on or within a foot of your router. Try to avoid physical obstructions in the path of your wireless signal, especially metal surfaces. If your Apple TV has an Ethernet port, connect your Apple TV directly to the modem with an Ethernet cable for the best experience.

2. Restart your Apple TV, router, and modem
After you restart each device, see if you still need help.
On the Apple TV menu, go to Settings > System and select Restart.
Unplug your router and your cable or DSL modem from power. Then plug them back in.

You'll find those steps and some additional guidance in this support article: If your Apple TV can't connect to Wi-Fi - Apple Support

Take care.
