Hi Jessi,
it is subtle but right after you hit the Create FaceTime Link button, you get an “Add Name” below the “FaceTime Link” title that is literally the only time and place you can change the name from FaceTime Link

The FaceTime Links created on iOS can be renamed at the point of creation but only on iOS or iPaOS. macOS offers no such ability. Having a crowd of "FaceTime Link" entries in FaceTime does, as one poster noted, make this feature fairly useless.
To compound the issue, once someone is provided with the link, that party is forever included in that link's activities and cannot be removed.
Would it be prudent to remove FaceTime Links from FaceTime until the capabilities of FaceTime Links are rounded out with the most basic management capabilities? Not trying to be harsh but the "cookie" seems to be in the "cookie dough" stage still.
Hi MrAungKo,
Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities. We understand you're unable to change a FaceTime link name. This article has the steps to create a link to a FaceTime call: Create a link to a FaceTime call on iPhone.
"In the FaceTime app on iPhone, you can create a link to a FaceTime call and send the link to a friend or a group (using Mail or Messages), which they can use to join or start a call.
In Calendar, you can schedule a remote video meeting by inserting FaceTime as the location of the meeting.
Note: You can invite anyone to join you in a FaceTime call, even people who don’t have an Apple device. They can join you in one-on-one and Group FaceTime calls from their browser—no login is necessary. (They need the latest version of either Chrome or Edge. Sending video requires H.264 video encoding support.)"
What happens when you try to change the name? Do you receive any specific error messages?
Take care.
now that function is broken and doesn’t set the name anymore. It takes your input but then fails to actually name the link.
I’m also on iOS 16.6 but on iPad Pro (5th gen). I also cannot change the FaceTime link name which makes the feature fairly useless. How can I schedule several meetings if I can’t tell them apart? I follow the instructions in the article and where the “add name” step is, I type in the name and say ok, but the name does not change. This is where we need help please.
Ok, we are now on iOS 17 guys! The renaming is not working. It does change the name of the link when we click ok. This renders this feature who could be a competitor feature into a glitch which is quite unfortunate. How do we fix this?
Same problem iPhone 15 Pro running 17.1.1
Even worse, Bill, I can't even rename them at the point of creation on iOS or iPadOS, either. You are right, not even half baked, this is raw dough! ;-)
Exactly. Perfect choice of emoji. I don't know if it makes it better or even worse to learn that it USED to work.
