iPhone 12 Pro Wifi and Bluetooth are greyed out... sometimes!

Hi,

2 years and 5 weeks after I bought my iPhone 12 Pro (brand new on Amazon), I noticed that my phone started to reboot on its own from time to time.

At first I thought it wasn't a big issue and maybe random updates, but I then noticed that after these reboots, I couldn't activate the Wifi and Bluetooth, which seems to be a pretty common issue!

I resetted the networks, backed it up: it solved the problem for one day and I COULD reactivate then Wifi and Bluetooth.

I went to the Apple Store 2 days ago (1 week after the problems started), the employee ran a diagnostic and wasn't too sure about the problem!

We resetted the phone AGAIN together, and it fixed the problem... for 24hours. The Apple Store employee suggested that I should replace the hardware (and of course, pay 450GBP for it, which is insane as the warranty oh my phone literally just stopped. I'd prefer buy a refurbished new phone...)

Now, sometimes it works, sometimes it stops working. To make it work I have to restart the phone: it will work for a couple of hours again then the phone would restart on its own and turn off the Wifi and Bluetooth.

I went to another repair shop (not Apple store but Apple specialist), a very honest guy told me there is no need to pay for the hardware replacement: as the Wifi and Bluetooth work sometimes, he suggested to wait for the next iOS update (problems seem to start when I updated the phone to iOS 16.6)

Furthermore, and coincidely, problems started after I came back from Morocco, where it was very hot. I wonder if it could have 'moved' the Wifi/Bluetooth hardware, but the Apple diagnosis tool didn't show anything wrong about the hardware.

I tried all the solutions I could find here, but wanted another opinion if someone encountered the same situation?

Thanks a lot for your help :)

Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches. Turn off your iPhone, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

  1. Restart the device. That's it.
  2. Still not solved --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Reset Network Settings: Only network settings are removed.

  • When you reset network settings, previously used networks and VPN settings that weren’t installed by a configuration profile or mobile device management (MDM) are removed. Wi-Fi is turned off and then back on, disconnecting you from any network you’re on. The Wi-Fi and Ask to Join Networks settings remain turned on.
  • To remove VPN settings installed by a configuration profile, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management, select the configuration profile, then tap Remove Profile. This also removes other settings and accounts provided by the profile. See Install or remove configuration profiles on iPhone in this guide.
  • To remove network settings installed by MDM, go to Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management, select the management, then tap Remove Management. This also removes other settings and certificates provided by MDM. See “Mobile device management (MDM)” in the iOS Deployment Reference.
  • Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

If the above fails...

Reset All Settings: All settings—including network settings, the keyboard dictionary, the Home screen layout, location settings, privacy settings, and Apple Pay cards—are removed or reset to their defaults. No data or media are deleted.

  1. Reset All Settings: Return iPhone settings to their defaults - Apple Support:- Return iPhone settings to their defaults
  2. You can return settings to their defaults without erasing your content.
  3. If you want to save your settings, back up your iPhone before returning them to their defaults. For example, if you’re trying to solve a problem but returning settings to their defaults doesn’t help, you might want to restore your previous settings from a backup.
