Apple Music “my station” won’t show the songs inside

I’ve been considering switching to Apple Music for years from Spotify. But there’s a few things that make it not possible for me.

  1. on Spotify, it builds stations, or groups of songs for me. I’m able to click into that list and see all the songs it recommends and play which ever one I want. On Apple Music, I can only play my “Stephanie’s Station” but I can’t see what songs are inside.
  2. Im big on music discovery if the above point didn’t give that away. Spotify has an amazing feature where at the end of a playlist when you scroll to the bottom, it shows a list of songs you may like. Almost every day I go down and find a song I do like, and add it to my playlist. It doesn’t appear that Apple Music has anything like this. Spotify has recently taken this a step further and adds songs to your playlist with AI. Amazing.
  3. There’s no collaboration. This is quite possibly the BIGGEST reason I won’t switch. My wife and I have 3 collaborative playlists on Spotify that we both add to. I was shocked to find Apple Music doesn’t have this option.

Why is Apple Music so behind the times? It seems that every other music service is lightyears ahead of it. Does Apple plan to add collaboration features for playlists?

I’d also love to know if there is a way on Apple Music to see the LIST of songs it’s recommending for me? Like a list of songs I might like based on my listens or playlists? This is huge for me.

As a side note, I have used Apple Music on Mac and on iOS and have found neither satisfactory.

My post outlined 3 very specific reasons why I won’t switch to Apple Music. Your reply was just a longer pros and cons list rather than an answer to my specific question. I very badly want Apple to be my main music source, but because of the reasons in my post; I can’t make the switch. Two biggest things they’ll need to add before I’ll switch are collaborative playlists and being able to visibly SEE a list of the songs it’s recommending for me. I’m deeply embedded in apples ecosystem, but Apple Music just isn’t there yet.

As this is a user to user only forum, Apple isn't here and won't see your comments about Apple Music. I switched long ago to Apple Music as my primary music source. It's just easier to use between all of my devices, from Apple Watch, to iPad, to iPhone and MacBook Pro. But it as SravanKrA suggests, has it's pros and cons, just as Spotify has it's pros and cons.

That said, if you want to share your thoughts with Apple directly, use this link as it is the only way they'll hear you --> Product Feedback - Apple

Apple Music and Spotify are two of the most popular music streaming services, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Here's a comparison of their pros and cons:

  1. Apple Music:
    1. Pros:
      1. Apple Music is seamlessly integrated with other Apple devices and services, such as iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Siri. This can provide a more cohesive experience if you're already invested in the Apple ecosystem.
      2. Apple Music occasionally offers exclusive releases and content from certain artists, which can be appealing to fans looking for early access to new music.
      3. If you have an existing iTunes library, you can easily integrate your purchased songs and albums with your streaming library on Apple Music.
      4. Apple Music offers expertly curated playlists and radio stations, which can be helpful for discovering new music tailored to your taste.
      5. Apple Music offers a high-fidelity (lossless) and even hi-res audio streaming option, providing better sound quality for audiophiles with compatible hardware.
    2. Cons:
      1. Some users find Apple Music's user interface less intuitive and more cluttered compared to Spotify's.
      2. Apple Music doesn't offer the same level of social sharing and collaborative playlist features that Spotify does.
      3. While Apple Music is available on various platforms, it might not be as widely supported as Spotify on some non-Apple devices.
  2. Spotify:
    1. Pros:
      1. Spotify is known for its easy-to-use and visually appealing user interface, making it simple to navigate and discover new music.
      2. Spotify allows users to create and collaborate on playlists with friends, which can be a fun way to share music and discover new tracks together.
      3. In addition to music, Spotify offers a wide range of podcasts, making it a one-stop-shop for both music and spoken-word content.
      4. Spotify integrates well with social media platforms, allowing users to easily share what they're listening to with friends.
      5. Spotify offers a free tier with ads, making it more accessible to users who don't want to pay for a subscription.
    2. Cons:
      1. While Spotify offers decent audio quality, it doesn't provide the same level of high-fidelity or hi-res audio options as Apple Music.
      2. Unlike Apple Music, Spotify doesn't integrate your existing purchased music library into its platform.
      3. While Spotify's algorithmic recommendations are generally good, some users feel that Apple Music's human-curated playlists offer a more personalized touch.
      4. While Spotify is available on a wide range of devices, its integration with non-Spotify services might not be as seamless as Apple's ecosystem.

Ultimately, the choice between Apple Music and Spotify depends on your personal preferences, the devices you use, and the features that matter most to you. Both services offer a wide range of music and features, so it's worth trying out both platforms to see which one aligns better with your needs and preferences.
