updating phone number on my credit card account in apple payments

( the topic is apple payments I do not have an apple card)how can I update my phone # on my credit card account in my apple payments. I changed the number on my personal mobile account for the card and now it is not consistent with the information on my apple payments. I only have one available method of payment. I apple will not allow me to remove the current inconsistent card account from apple payments be cause apple demands that I have a payment on file due to existing reoccurring billings. There is no option to edit the phone number in any of the various attempts to edit my information.
