I can’t turn on assistive touch on an iPhone SE

I’ve followed all the steps to turn on assistive touch (Settings, accessibility, touch, AssistiveTouch) but when I need to switch it on, the button won’t turn. The text also appears lighter, as if it’s telling me I have to do something else in order to be able to click it on. The home button has stopped working so I really need to use the virtual button.

Try this to see if you can turn it on

  • Use "Hey Siri" to say, “Turn on AssistiveTouch”
  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Accessibility Shortcut, then turn on AssistiveTouch
