Iphone 7 will not connect to vehicle Apple carplay

my apple iphone 7 will not connect to my vehicles apple carploay. I have checked settings and the carplay is not restricted. I have an iphone SE and a Iphone 10 which both connect to the same vehicle

iPhone 5s, iOS 12

Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car and then tap Forget This Car. Then set up CarPlay again.
