Notes on Mac OS crashing

Notes on my MacBook Air keep crashing. This started in the last week when I started importing my notes from Evernote. I have a lot of notes from Evernote, and it seems to have started with a particularly large batch, which I am now trying to delete since it didn't fully import anyway.

Notes will stay open for a few seconds to minutes then crashes with the following error (screenshot below). It also is not syncing with iCloud, though Notes created on other devices ARE syncing with iCloud and I can see them on my computer.

Here are the steps I have already taken to troubleshoot:

  1. toggled cloud sync on and off and on the computer, restarting in between.
  2. toggled cloud sync on and off on my iphone, restarting in between.
  3. Restarted in Safe Mode - problem persisted.
  4. Confirmed no programs run at login
  5. Ran Disk Utility/repair on each volume
  6. reinstalled the operating system - problem persists.

Is contacting Apple Support my next option? Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks!
