My MacBook Air battery won’t charge or turn on

I haven’t used my MacBook Air in a few months and I went to use it yesterday and it wouldn’t turn on. I plugged it in then this morning it didn’t charge. This has happened once before but I can’t find what I did. Can anyone please help me on how to reboot my battery if that’s even what you call it? I would appreciate any help!!
