I will be trading in my old iPad as soon as the trade-in kit arrives.
So I erased the old iPad to the best of my ability.
This chat is simply to find out if there’s a way to verify that my old iPad is completely empty of all my files?

If you followed the instructions in the Related Article at the top of this page then you are good to go. If you did this on your own then anything is possible and you have no way of knowing what's left, if anything.
If you see the Hello screen on your iPad after following the steps in the support document you posted from, it was completely erased.
If you see any other screen, then it was not erased.
How do I know if my iPad has been completely erased ?
