iPhone won’t pass phone call to car Bluetooth

iPhone SE 2nd gen, iOS 16.6 won’t pass a telephone call to the car Bluetooth when connected. Can play audio through the car speakers over Bluetooth. Just can’t pick up a phone call via car hands free.

Having incoming or outgoing phone calls go thru the car speakers I just purchased an iPhone 13 with iOS 17.1.1 and hooked it up via bluetooth on my 2014 Buick Enclave. When I receive a call while driving the ringing sounds on the car speakers but when I press accept on the screen the voice reverts to the iPhone speakers. Very annoying. I can reach the phone and change it from phone speakers to bluetooth and then it works fine. Not safe when doing 65+. I had an iPhone 7 with iOS 15.7 and no such problem everything worked as I thought it should. Dan

So this turned out to be that the person with the phone had a hearing aid that was Bluetooth connected and it was handling the call, which is why the car couldn’t handle it. Posting this in case it saves people some time.
