Hello my iPhone 14 was stolen, I marked it as lost and pushed an erase request, however, since they turned off the device will not be wiped, my question is if the hard drive on the iPhone is encrypted so data is not accessible even if removed from the phone?

Yes, the data is encrypted if you have a passcode on the phone. If they try to extract the data, it will be useless to them.

As soon as they turn it on it will be erased.
If you erased your device, and it had iOS 15, iPadOS 15, or later installed, you can still use Find My to locate the device or play a sound on it. If you had an earlier version of iOS installed, you won't be able to locate the device or play a sound after you erase it.
If you have AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss, if you erased your device you won't be able to file a claim.
Did you contact your local authorities and your cellular carrier and report your device as lost or stolen?

Yes, if you had a passcode set on your phone, the data is encrypted.

Thank you, my concern is if they don't turn it on, instead extract the drive and plug it into a PC, will that way be accessible or is still data encrypted? The issue is I have very sensitive information from work on it. I did go to the Police and report it everything, also marked it as lost on "Find My".
