These changes mentioned below were the same prior to iOS 16 and after.

"If the alarm volume is too low or quiet...

Do Not Disturb and the Ring/Silent switch don’t affect the alarm sound. If you set your Ring/Silent switch to Silent or turn on Do Not Disturb, the alarm will still sound.

If your alarm doesn’t sound or is too quiet, or if your iPhone only vibrates, check the following:

  • Set the volume on your iPhone. If your alarm volume is too low or too loud, press the volume up or volume down button to adjust it. You can also go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and drag the slider under Ringtone and Alert Volume.
  • If your alarm only vibrates, make sure your alarm sound isn’t set to None. Open the Clock app, tap the Alarm tab, then tap Edit. Tap the alarm, then tap Sound and choose a Sound.
  • If you connect headphones to your iPhone, the alarm will play at a set volume through the built-in speakers on your iPhone as well as wired and wireless headphones.

Manually adjusting the time on your iPhone in Settings to change app behaviour, such as game timers, isn’t recommended and can affect alarms."

That has actually always been the case. There has never been a separate volume control for Alarm through the Alarm app. However, if you set an Alarm through the sleep tracking function in the Health app, you have some independent volume control.

Track your sleep on Apple Watch and use Sleep on iPhone - Apple Support

If the problem is that you want to silence the ring while sleeping but still hear the alarm, the fastest, simplest way is to use the mute switch on the side of the phone just above the volume buttons. That will silence all alerts but still allow the alarm to sound at whatever volume you're selected.

Or, you can set up a Sleep Focus that prevents notifications you don't want but still allows ones from people you might want to hear from in the event of an emergency. You will still hear your alarm.

Bring back the “Alarm Volume” slider you can adjust within the alarm.

There has never been a separate Alarm Volume slider. People have been asking for one for years but Apple hasn't provided one. The only place you'll find one is if you set up a Sleep tracking schedule. That alarm has a separate slider.

Apple doesn't read here for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

Hi - I’ve had the same issues with those later iOS updates (13 Pro). I manually adjusted this slider in the sounds menu and it’s much better.

The side volume keys didn’t adjust it, have to drag it. When I opened it, it was down at minimum for some reason. Set max it’s fire alarm loud, middle to 2/3 is ok.

Hope that helps, found this thread googling the issue after sleeping because of it.

Right. I read all of that. But the volume slider does, so if I’m on my phone late with my volume down, my alarm volume will also be down. So, suddenly, with the update, the alarm volume goes to nothing & unless I want to watch videos at full volume in the middle of the night, my iphone alarm is no longer useful.

Turn your volume up when you finish watching videos before you go to sleep. Or, set the alarm using Health, as I suggested.

Or buy a cheap alarm clock.

Why doesn’t anybody understand the separation of ring volume & audio volume from apps?

I completely understand it. Separate ringer and alarm volumes have been a feature on Android phones for years. But it has never been a feature of the iPhone.

However, if you are watching a video, you should be able to turn the volume down within that app without it affecting the ringer volume. I just tested this with YouTube. Adjusting the volume in the YouTube video had no effect on the ringer/alarm volume. Therefore, what you need to do is use the mute switch or Focus at night so that you don't hear the ringer but you can still adjust the volume of the video.

I am having the same problem as her. And all of your fixes do not fix the issue. In the past the volume on the alarm was separate from the volume on your videos and phone features. You could pick a button on your alarm, and it said, start low and build louder. Or you could just set it to be loud. And it did not link with the sound of your videos. So for those of us that fall asleep, listening to podcasts, or with a video on our phone, and we watch it on low so that we can fall asleep. Our alarms now come on , but they come on at the same very low volume. We fell asleep to watching/listening on our phone the night prior. I understand that one of your recommendations is to turn the volume back up. But that would involve waking up in the middle of the night and remembering to turn the phone volume up so your alarm works. That’s not really a viable option. The best option would be for Apple to quit messing with simple features. I myself have missed two separate flights because of this issue. I’ve missed doctors appointments, meds for my dogs. Because I use my alarms for all of these things. But I don’t often have my phone volume on high blast all the time, and there is still no fix for this. I’ve called and spent much time on the phone with Apple, trying to fix it, the end result is, I should buy an Alarm Clock to travel with, or download another alarm app besides the Apple one. I have downloaded five separate alarm apps, and they all interrupt with ads. None of these are appropriate fixes. The appropriate fix now seems to be we all need to switch to androids.
