Thank you for your question. I need this to be available to others.

I do have an Apple Music Family Subscription.

It is a playlist I created.

The playlist was on multiple devices...until it was on none.

I have found the answer. Using an iPad that I rarely use, I was able to test a few things. What I found was the following:

  1. Restore the iDevice to a point before the playlist erasure. (there are many steps to that, found elsewhere)
  2. THIS IS CRITICAL (and was missing in many other posts suggesting the backup/restore method) - before the playlist is wiped away again, copy the playlist into another playlist. I prefer not to do this one file at a time since my list had 600+ items. Hold your finger on the playlist name, and a menu pops up, then you choose "Add to playlist". This will copy all of the files into the other list. I cannot say if they stay in the order you had them, but at least they are there to be sorted as you need. When your device syncs, the restored list will be wiped away again, but the new list will remain.
