"password incorrect" on app store

Hi there. Recently did a factory reboot on a fairly old(2015 intel i7) macbook air, and when trying to sign back into my app store, I was prompted with the old "Apple ID or password is incorrect" in red. I am 100% percent certain it is the correct password, and my app store had worked fine before the reset. There have been no password changes or anything. I had also tried to create a NEW ID to sign in with(after about an hour of restarting the computer and trying again), to which I had received ANOTHER error, saying I couldn't do that at this time. I would love for someone to give me a tip here, as I really need to be able to use this computer, and can't afford another.

Thank you in advance :)

P.S I saw in a few threads that some people said to just log out and log back in, but I am not CURRENTLY logged in, so that wouldn't help.

Hey there Pursuedmacoroon,

There are a few things you'll want to take a look at, following If you can't connect to the App Store, iTunes

Store, or other Apple services:

  1. "Check the system status page"
  2. "Make sure your device is connected to the internet"
  3. "Update your software"
  4. "Check the date and time"

The link above contains additional details for each of these steps. You may also want to verify there is no VPN or security software in use on the network you are conecting to. As thse could interfere with proper communication with iCloud servers.

You may also want to follow this next guide to ensrue the correct sign in process is being used.

Sign in with your Apple ID

"If you tried all of the above steps and you still can’t connect, contact Apple Support."

Have a good one!
